We are excited to announce a new partnership with tunnel.dev. Would like to start by saying thanks to David and the tunnel team, they've really shown that they care about improving dev experience and team velocity. From our perspective this is a natural combination of complementary tools - that's because just like Coherence, Tunnel is all about enabling new ways of collaboration for product and engineering teams. Tunnel builds on the previous dev sharing solutions (for example ngrok or localtunnel), but goes farther and adds tons of cool new category-leading features. With tunnel, you can now add review tools like commenting to your preview deployments with just a couple lines of code. We’ve been using it internally over the last few months and are excited to now share a new way of working together.

What we're unlocking for you today is the seamless ability for tunnel users to run preview environments on Coherence, and Coherence teams to add tunnel into their workflow. Tunnel will make it easy to pull pull data out of silos in slack/jira/docs and right into the sites they are working on. Key features are:

  • Ability to comment on dev links with comments attached directly to HTML/JSON elements, sharing work in progress right from your local environment or from a coherence workspace (either install their SDK as linked below, or just wrap you dev command with the tunnel command)
  • Ability to comment on preview environments to enhance collaboration with always-on and production-like environments for every feature you’ve got in flight. Use the github labels integration to make your developer experience seamless - just add a github label to the PR and a full-stack preview link shows up in the comments, and then closes along with the PR automatically

We’ve made this simple to get started, here’s all you need to do:

  • To add previews to your app, set up your coherence.yml as per the docs. This should take just a few minutes, we even have a "generate my config with AI" option to get you started!
  • To add the Tunnel Toolbar to your app, add the JS snippet as per the docs here. This should take just a few seconds, it's so easy.

On both teams, we’ve got a lot of ideas for how we can make this more magical and both teams are looking forward to even deeper integration in the future. We're excited to keep empowering devs and platform teams with a broader range of capability to impact their velocity even more. We look forward to get your feedback on how we can keep pushing the envelope - let us know what you’d like to see!
